What Byproduct is

Byproduct, operated by ONR Services, is a referral service. We appraise what you tell us about your operation and, where it qualifies, introduce you to independent partners who buy or license operational data, or who offer related work or services. Using the site or submitting an application means you accept these terms.

Appraisals are AI-generated estimates

The preliminary appraisal is produced by an AI model from the information you provide. It is a good-faith, automated estimate — not a valuation, offer, quote, approval or commitment of any kind, and it may contain errors. A person reviews qualifying applications before any referral is made, and any actual terms come from a partner, in writing, not from the appraisal.

No guarantees

Every figure and range on this site and in an appraisal is illustrative. What operational data earns — if anything — depends on its quality, uniqueness, volume and current buyer demand. We do not guarantee that you will qualify, be referred, receive an offer, close a deal or be paid any amount, and past or published figures are not a promise of your results.

Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is financial, investment, legal, tax or accounting advice. Matches or links related to funding, financing or paid work are informational referrals only — we are not a lender or broker, we do not arrange credit, and we receive no application from you for credit. Get independent professional advice before making decisions about your business or data.

Your data stays yours

We do not take ownership of your business’s data. If you license data, that happens under a written contract between you and the buyer, and you should review exactly what is shared, how it is de-identified and what the buyer may do with it before signing anything.

Your responsibilities

• Give us accurate information, and only apply for an operation you have the authority to represent.
• Make sure you actually hold the rights to any data you describe, and that licensing it would not break a contract you have signed.
• Meet your own privacy obligations — to your customers, employees and anyone else in your records — before sharing or licensing anything.

Partners are independent

Partners are independent businesses. We choose them in good faith, but we do not control and are not responsible for their decisions, terms, conduct or websites. Do your own diligence before signing with anyone, including partners we introduce.

Liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ONR Services is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from the service, an appraisal or a referral, and our total liability for any claim is limited to CAD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

General

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable there. If we change these terms, we will update this page and its date. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
